A fighter jet is flying horizontally at a certain altitude with a speed of 200 ms$$-$$1. When it passes directly overhead an anti-aircraft gun, a bullet is fired from the gun, at an angle $$	heta$$ with the horizontal, to hit the jet. If the bullet speed is 400 m/s, the value of $$	heta$$ will be ___________$$^\circ$$.

Accepted Answer

To hit the jet both should have same horizontal component of velocity.
To hit the jet
$$
\begin{aligned}
&400 \cos 	heta=200 \\
&\Rightarrow \ \cos 	heta=\frac{1}{2} \\
&\Rightarrow \ 	heta=60^{\circ}
\end{aligned}
$$
